Common Questions

What's the difference between discipline and abuse?

Discipline teaches right from wrong. Abuse causes harm. If you're unsure, trust your instincts — call the hotline and trained professionals will assess the situation.

What happens when I call the hotline?

A trained intake specialist asks about your concerns. You don't need proof — just reasonable suspicion. Your identity is kept confidential.

Can I report anonymously?

Yes. While your name helps follow-up, anonymous reports are accepted. Colorado law protects good-faith reporters from liability.

Am I legally required to report?

Colorado is a mandatory reporting state — everyone has a duty to report. Professionals like teachers and doctors have additional legal obligations.
